Side-by-Side Comparison of the Mavic 2 Pro and the Insta360 1-Inch Sensors

DJI’s Mavic 2 Pro features the Hasselblad L1D-20c camera with a 1-Inch sensor. The Insta360 One R features a 1-Inch sensor that was co-engineered by Leica and Insta360 so I decided to try a “side-by-side” comparison.

To conduct this comparison I bottom mounted the Insta360 One R (One R) camera to the Mavic 2 Pro (M2P). For this test the One R was about 17 inches below the M2P using a mount from DJImounts.com. This particular mounting system allows the One R to swing freely which works fine with the Insta360 One 360 (see video at bottom of page) camera but not so well with the 1-Inch camera.

Both cameras were set to auto, the M2P was set to 4K at 24 FPS and the One R was set to 5.3K at 24 FPS. (I did conduct a subsequent test with both cameras at 4K at 24 FPS with the One R was mounted 10 inches below the M2P to try and reduce the ripples, below)

Test of Bottom Mounted Insta360 One R 1-Inch (10 inches below Mavic 2 Pro)

Overall I was impressed with the picture quality of the One R but very disappointed with the ripples. I was hoping that the internal stabilization would be able to handle the motion.
